Who writes this blog, and how?
Who we are
ConsomAction is an independent alcohol tracking web app, designed and built in Switzerland. It offers a free real-time blood alcohol estimate based on the Widmark formula, a drink diary, the AUDIT test and tools to help you cut down, with no advertising from the alcohol industry.
This blog shares the same mission: giving you clear, checkable numbers about alcohol, without moralising and without playing it down. Articles are signed "The ConsomAction team": they are written and reviewed by the people who build the app, not by outside writers paid by the word.
How we work
We are not doctors, and this blog does not give personal medical advice. Our job is to turn what official bodies publish into clear answers. Every article goes through the same process:
- A fact sheet first: every figure (legal limit, elimination time, statistic) is checked against at least one official source before publication.
- Sources you can click: every article ends with the list of sources used, with a direct link to the page we read.
- Local rules, not translations: our English articles are written for readers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with their own limits, units and penalties. They are not translations of our French articles.
- A medical disclaimer on every article about health or dependence: they inform, they never replace a consultation.
Our sources
We rely first on public bodies and recognised charities:
- United Kingdom: GOV.UK, the NHS, the UK Chief Medical Officers, Alcohol Change UK.
- Ireland: the Road Safety Authority, the HSE, Citizens Information.
- International: the World Health Organization and peer-reviewed studies.
We do not cite alcohol industry websites or content without an identifiable primary source.
Our independence
The blog has no advertising and no affiliate links. The only promotional links point to the ConsomAction app itself, which is free. We have no financial ties with alcohol producers or retailers.
